The 2022 Report to the Nations provides an analysis of 2,110 cases of occupational fraud that were investigated between January 2020 and September 2021. All information was provided by the Certified Fraud Examiners (CFEs) who investigated those cases. Mason Wilder, CFE, ACFE Senior Research Specialist, and Mandy Moody, CFE, ACFE Communications Manager, discuss the "sting of the century." Operation Trojan Shield was a collaboration between the U.S. FBI and DEA, the Swedish and Australian police, and other global agencies to infiltrate an encrypted chat platform. After being placed on the United States Most Wanted List, captured and convicted of 39 felonies, he escaped prison. Captured again, Johnson served his time and accepted responsibility. The SFO works to strengthen the sector’s resilience to fraud and corruption through its Counter Fraud Centre - Tauārai Hara Tāware (CFC).
The CFC’s mission is in two parts - to build capability through providing resources and guidance, and to create an effective counter fraud culture.
